Comparison between Single Screw and Twin Screw

1. force balance:

The radial and axial gas forces borne by the single screw can be self-balanced, and the star gear teeth are subjected to gas force, which requires the star gear teeth to have sufficient strength and rigidity.

Twin-screw rotor bears large radial and axial gas forces. The screw is required to have sufficient strength and rigidity.

2. Manufacturing cost:

Ordinary bearings can be used for the screw and star wheel of single screw, and the manufacturing cost is low.

Because of the heavy rotor load, the twin-screw requires high precision bearings, and the manufacturing cost is high.

3. Reliability:

Single screw star wheel is a wearing part. In addition to the high requirements for the star wheel material, the star wheel needs to be replaced regularly.

The main engine of twin-screw compressor has no wearing parts, and the trouble-free running time can reach 4-8 hours.

4. Efficiency:

Under the new machine condition, the efficiency of single-screw compressor and twin-screw compressor is basically the same. With the increase of running time, the wear of single screw star wheel will lead to the decrease of gas volume and efficiency.

5. Noise and vibration: they are basically the same.

6. Processing equipment:

Single screw has no mature special processing equipment, which leads to unstable performance.

Twin-screw has a mature screw milling machine and grinder, which can ensure stable product performance.
